Great Positive Meeting of STRS on 05-16-2024 , with WADE  STEEN  rejoining after being illegally removed by Gov DeWine, and RUDY  FICTENBAUM assuming the position of CHAIRPERSON of STRS  !!!!!

Maybe we can have , finally, a yearly COLA , more transparency concerning FEES  PAID,  and less risky investing and more passive index fund allocations !!!

According to The Constitution, Article IV, Section 4,
"The election of officers shall be held at the August meeting of WCRTA and shall be open to the full active membership, with those present constituting a quorum and majority (51%) approval vote constituting officer election."
Section 5, "The installation of newly elected officers shall take place at the October meeting of WCRTA."

STRS is probably the worst of the Ohio State Pensions Funds, in terms of low COLAS , terrible investment losses , lack of transparency , etc.

1.  I request the Board of STRS and all the Investment Staff share two pieces of information addressing the FEES   THAT   WERE   PAID  to the past and present investment groups , based on TWO  DATES :

1.  When you first became a Board Member or an Investment Advisor, what was the YEAR _______  , AND  WHAT  WAS  THE  CURRENT AVERAGE INVESTMENT FEE _____ %  ?
2. At this present date , what is the CURRENT  AVERAGE  INVESTMENT  FEE _______ %  
3. What is the DIFFERENCE  IN  THESE  FEES  _______  ?

ORTA   SOUTHWEST   DISTRICT   MEETING   at the ESC of MONTGOMERY  COUNTY , on 10-17-2022
Robyn Rayfield updated members concerning the ongoing Forensic Audit of STRS .   
1.  STR IS NOT TRANSPARENT.
2.  STRS needs to move away from ACTIVE MANAGEMENT OF OUR INVESTMENTS.
3.  STRS needs to EXPLORE ALTERNATIVES TO INVESTING OUR MONEY.
4.  STRS needs to   ELIMINATE ALL NON-ESSENTIAL COSTS.
 5.  The BONUS  PAYMENTS  need to be simple and understandable to anyone.
​6.  The CULTURE AT STRS NEEDS TO CHANGE.
Chris  DeMarco , ORTA  President , shared that we are all a  503-C4 IRS designation , and as such can share POLITICAL  EDUCATION  INFORMATION .
Also , there is a Spring Election 2023 for an ACTIVE  SEAT   ON  THE  BOARD  OF  STRS !!!!!

How much $$$$  have we lost , since NO  COLA  SINCE  2013 ??????
Example :  If a person is receiving $50,000 per year ,and NO COLA AT 3% for 8 years times 12 payments per year of $1500  (3% cola )
, then that STRS  RETIREE  LOST  $15,000  ,  over the last 8 years !!!!!!

Thursday , September 16 , 2021 , ORTA  PROTEST  OF  STRS , with  RUDY   FICTENBAUM asking GREAT  QUESTIONS  AND COMMENTS , and  even mentioned ..... ​Thursday , August 19 , 2021 ORTA   PROTEST   OF    STRS  was a well attended event , where STRS shared over 114 pages of DENIAL , LACK  OF  TRANSPARENCY  ,  LACK OF CONCERN ABOUT NO COLA  ,  SINCE 2013 , etc.    15 people spoke for 3 minutes each , including  ROBYN  RAYFIELD , and I personally feel that nothing will change until RUDY  FICTENBAUM  and other NEW members of the STRS  BOARD  are elected and the current party in control in Columbus changes ..........

Ohio's retired teachers have not had a COLA for years , with no end in sight ; yet there are STRS investment staff members who are paid 6 - digit salaries PLUS huge bonuses .  Therefore , Ohio's retired teachers are funding a forensic audit of STRS !!!    The one conducting the audit will be Edward "Ted" Siedle , a 'principal' with Benchmark Financial Services , Inc., and a former U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission attorney.  He co-authored the book , "Who Stole My Pension?"  He is globally respected as a pension expert.

  Warren County 
Warren County Quilt Block Story

The Warren County RTA, organized in 1971, carries on a commitment to education in Warren County which began in 1798, with the completion of a log school house build by neighbors in the Lebanon area. Students ranged in age from 8 to 28.

A charter member of WCRTA, Burnett Butterworth, was a descendant of Henry T. Butterworth, a conductor on the Underground Railroad. The Butterworth’s were among the families who arrived in the area in the 1790’s.

Lebanon was also the home of Southwestern Normal School, a teachers’ college which graduated 80,000 students from 1855 to 1915.

Today, WCRTA members are active in volunteer activities in their community and interested in current educational developments.
